2016 Information

2015 was a great year for The First Tee of Meridian Program !!!

Golf Fore Kids! The First Tee of Meridian offers Golf and Life Skills lessons for ages 7-17. Information, Gloria, 601-527-7629 or visit our website:www.thefirstteemeridian.org.

Levels - Something for All - "Young people progress through The First Tee by moving through levels that introduce new and more advanced concepts of golf and life skills".

The First Tee Coaches - Making a difference - "Young people don't care what a coach knows until they know a coach cares".

We now offer USGA-LPGA Girls Golf“ Changing lives one swing at a time”.

Volunteers needed for programming at all locations, especially LPGA and PGA. All volunteers must agree to a background check.

Support our young people

With one in four students dropping out of public high schools, the need for quality youth programs that include adult mentoring and safe places for young people is critical. The First Tee is a solution to the ever-growing problem facing today's youth. The First Tee Campaign for 10 Million Young People seeks to raise funding. www.thefirsttee.org/campaign and make a tax deductible donation today to our chapter!

The National School Program

The First Tee NSP currently in more than 7,000 elementary schools represented by more than 700 school districts/communities. More than 2 million young people participate in the National School Program annually nationwide. The First Tee of Meridian is pleased to announce the National School Program was approved for 13 schools in Lauderdale County School District, Kemper County School District and Meridian Public School District..

Carolina Life Skills and Leadership Academy

Alexa McKinnion spent a week at The First Tee of Brunswick County 1st Annual Carolina Life Skills and Leadership Academy.
The program immerses teenage participants in a high intensity life skills and leadership experience. Learning is embedded in leader training and golf activities. Participants will develop a personal campaign for their high school and college years. The overall theme of our program is "leadership for life."

LPGA*USGA Membership - Changing Lives one swing at a time

We know that 2012 will be a great year for LPGA-USGA Girls Golf!
Bringing the game of golf to girls in our community and offering them a fun and valuable learning experience is now at The First Tee of Meridian. Applications will be available at registration. This opportunity is provided by The LPGA Foundation.

The First Tee of Meridian Tour Championship

The First Tee of Meridian partnered with the Adams Pro Tour Series to bring The Tour Champsionship to Northwood Country Club to Meridian.
Proceeds will fund travel expenses for participants to attend The First Tee Invitational and Chapter Challenge at World Golf Village and Golf Hall of Fame, and The First Tee Hank Haney Training Camp IJGA.

In a past independent research study of The First Tee, 73% of young people at participating chapters reported high confidence in their ability to do well academically and 52% credited the program for their ability to appreciate diversity.
